In 1982 Coronet Turf pioneered a soil-less turf growing system which has transformed the concept of amenity turf growing and is now recognized as the leading supplier of soil-less turf in the country.
In 2003 Coronet Turf started producing Wildflower Turf and developed the product to meet the requirement for readymade wildflower meadows. Due to rapid expansion and demand for the product Wildflower Turf Ltd was formed in 2011. Wildflower Turf Ltd continues to supply Coronet Soil-less Lawn Turf in addition to developing the Wildflower Turf range of products.
This allows larger roll size which makes it a very easy product to use - landscapers have stated that it is up to five times quicker to lay.
The end result is top quality lawn turf available throughout the year, whatever the weather, that will suit all turfing requirements.
About our Soil-less Lawn Turf
The soil-less lawn turf system relies on a non permeable membrane that prevents the grass roots growing into the soil. This results in a mass of strong roots that are waiting for some soil to grow into, which once the turf is laid, they do at great speed.
The process involves laying a thin layer of compost over a non permeable membrane and mixing in a good quality grass or wildflower seed mix that can be tailored to suit the customer. The grass establishes quickly and after six weeks the turf is ready to lift. Because the roots can not grow into the soil, due to the non permeable membrane, they weave together to create a strong turf that is lifted and laid as if it were a piece of carpet. This 'carpet' is much stronger than soil based turf resulting in no wastage during laying. It is also much cleaner and lighter as there is no soil (in fact it is similar to washed turf in this respect).
